Overview
Focus has recently released a new student search option.
It's easy to search for the students you need with the new Student Search , which includes three sub menus: Search Screen, Simple List, and Customized List. You can use the student search bar, More Search Options, and Student Groups to find students quickly. You can also save your searches for future use.
New Search
To access the new search click 'Use New Search' from the student search screen.
The Student Search text box accepts both full and partial entries, and is not case sensitive. It can be used to search for a student by name or ID number. The last, first format requires a comma. Searching for a partial name will pull every student whose first or last name begins with the entered letter.
Enter your search criteria and click Search.
Search by Group
You can also search for students assigned to a specific group. Use the Student Group pull down to view the available groups. Use the filter box to search for the group you would like to select and check the box next to the title.
If you conduct a student search using a Student Group, in addition to the student list you will also see a clickable link that will direct you to the student groups screen.
More Search Options
The More Search Options feature is displayed as a drop down menu, showing all menu options for conducting searches. Users can use this feature to initiate a search. After selecting a menu option, they can then refine their search further by entering or selecting additional search criteria.
As you select search options from the more search option list they appear at the bottom of the screen to allow you to make a selection based the the categories/fields you have chosen.
To remove a search option from the ones you have selected click the minus sign next the option.
Once all applicable options have been selected, click Search.
Your search results will show the criteria you used in your search at the top left side of the screen.
Additional Options
Even with the new search, users can still include (current year) Inactive , Previous Years (inactive) and Use Most Recent Enrollment when searching.
If the user has access to multiple schools a Search All Schools options will appear to search all schools the user has access to.
Saving Your Search
Click the floppy disk save icon to save the search including all filters so you can easily run the search again.
*Note* Click the save icon before clicking Search to save your search criteria. If you click Search first, you will lose your search criteria
In the pop-up window, enter the name of the search, then click OK to save.
To access saved searches click More Search Options> Saved Searches.
