The Google Classroom integration allows teachers to create new assignments in Focus, which will automatically be added to the synced Google Classroom course.
Students can view assignment information, track upcoming assignments via Google Calendar and turn in assignments to their respective teachers. Teachers can grade the assignments and then return to Focus to sync the grades back into Focus with the click of a button. Teachers can also sync existing assignments in Google Classroom with new assignments in Focus.
Before the teacher can set up their google classroom account in Focus, the MIS staff must enable the link between google and Focus. If you do not see the options outline below please check with your MIS staff.
Navigate to Grades> Gradebook> Settings then click the tab for Google Classroom

To link a new account, click Sign in with Google Classroom to link the account.
*Teachers must create a Google Classroom course prior to attempting to link the Focus Gradebook with a Google Classroom course or an error message will display and no available courses can be selected*
Follow the prompts to sign in to your Google account.

Grant all applicable permissions by clicking Allow.
Confirm your choice by reviewing all permissions, then click Allow.

Once an account is linked, click the unlink icon to sign out of the Google account and unlink the account.

Select the Google Course from the pull-down to link a google course to the section, which will be synced with the Focus gradebook. Note that only Google Classroom courses that have been previously set up with your email address will display in the pull-down.

Click Apply to apply Google Classroom.
**Once the Google Classroom course is linked with the section’s gradebook in Focus, an email invitation will be sent to each student who was not previously enrolled in the Google Classroom and who has an email address in Focus. An additional pop-up window will display stating that invitations have been sent.
Adding an Assignment
Select the assignment or Create New Assignment from the Google Classroom Assignment pull-down to add the assignment to the Google Classroom for the respective section(s).

Determine if the assignment should be added to multiple sections by making the appropriate selections from the Linked Sections pull-down. If a Google Classroom Assignment has been selected from the pull-down and multiple sections are selected, ensure that a Google Classroom has been set up for each section. The assignment will be added for each section in Focus as well as in the linked Google Classrooms.

The assignment will be added for each section in Focus as well as in the linked Google Classrooms.
Click Save.
Syncing and Inviting Students
When the Focus gradebook is synced with the Google Classroom account by clicking Google Classroom, any student who has not been previously invited to the Google Classroom and who has an email address stored in Focus will receive an email invitation to join the teacher’s Google Classroom. To join the Google Classroom, students will access their email and click the link to join the classroom.
