Overview
Adult Ed students are scheduled based on their initial pre-test which determines their functioning level and the appropriate course. Students are also given a post-test to determine their progression in the course and to determine when it is appropriate to move the student from ABE to GED.
Each year FLDOE publishes the Adult Education Florida Assessment Policy in their Adult ED Technical Assistance page which you can find here: https://www.fldoe.org/academics/career-adult-edu/career-adult-edu-technical-assistance-.stml
- Pre-test all students in the ABE, GED® preparation, ESOL, and ASB programs within the first 12 hours of enrollment activity. Prior test administrations less than 3 years old may be used depending on Assessment Policy allowances in the link above.
- Post-test within the timeframe specified by the test publisher but no later than 7 days of course/program exit date per reporting requirements. The state target is to post-test a minimum of 70 percent of students pre-tested.
The purpose of this article is to cover how to enter the test information into Focus.
Entering Test History
To enter the students test information, select the student then navigate to Assessment > Test History or click on the Test History grey menu on the student.
From here you can scroll to the bottom to enter a new test administration line. On the test administration line you are required to enter:
- Test (name)
- Administration Date
- School Year
- Form (refer to the applicable year's WDIS Database Handbook and review the Adult Test Form data element requirements)
- Test Level (refer to the applicable year's WDIS Database Handbook and review the Adult Test Level data element requirements)
Click the Save button. Then you can use the grey arrow to expand/open the test scores and begin adding the scores. Note: you MUST enter the Scale Score as this is what is reported to DOE.
Focus has a nightly job which will automatically assign the Test ID (FLTESTID) and Adult Education Functioning Level (AEFL) so long as your pre and post test dates are within the required range for Pre-Test and Post-Test reporting requirements - be sure to leave these blank when entering your scores. These values will also automatically get linked to the schedule fields.
