If your district allows it, teachers can approve and add course requests for students for courses in the same subject they currently teach.

System Preferences
To be able to use this feature the system preferences below much be checked in the request year (new school year).
Go to Setup> System Preferences >Scheduling
Check the box for both Teachers to approve course requests and Allow teachers to override automatic course requests.
For Teachers to navigate to "Next Year Schedule Requests," the below must also be set in the current school year.
Go to Setup> System Preferences >Scheduling
Enter dates in the Allow Teachers to Enter Course Requests Starting and Allow Teachers to Enter Course Requests Ending fields.
Permissions
Update the teacher profile to give access to both requests and the next year schedule requests screen.
To begin navigate to Users > Profiles. Set Permission Type = Menu and Role = Teacher and Profile = Teacher.
Check the box next to Student Requests.
Check the box next to Next-Year Schedule Requests.
Click Save.
Course Setup
Courses that can be approved and/or requested by the teacher must be updated with appropriate selections. To begin make sure you are in the new school year and navigate to Scheduling > Courses & Sections. Then select the Subject then select the Course.
From the courses screen click the checkbox next to Allow Teachers to Approve Course Requests and Allow Teachers to Request this Course.
Teacher Request Approval
The teacher can review course requests that have been submitted by navigating to Students> Student Requests. Teachers should be in the current active school year when viewing next year's schedule requests.
This screen will show you all the course requests in the same subject area the teacher is currently assigned for the students that are in their class.
Teachers can approve all requests by using the button on the top right-hand side of the screen or approve or deny individual requests by using the pull-down option on each course request.
Once the request had been processed the student and school staff can view the response on the student's request screen.
The teacher approval flags should be viewed by school staff and request adjustments made as per your school policy. ** Note, The scheduler does not take the teacher approval flags into consideration when seating students.**
Teacher Add Course Request
Teachers can add course requests for the subject areas they teach to students who are currently in their class.
To do this navigate to Scheduling > Next Year Schedule Request.
Here teachers can use the pull-down to select course requests to add to their current active students.
Teachers can only select courses that have the same subject area as they currently teach.
